Did you have a chance to stop by the Hopped Taco Throwdown on August 12? If not, you missed out on a lot of fun!

Our own Chef Carlos was there representing Citizens with two out-of-this-world tacos: The Drunk Drunk Goose Taco, which featured tender spit-roasted goose and El Jefe mole on a blue corn tortilla; and the Cerveza Asada, which had savory charred steak, lime, chili, and cilantro. Both of these tacos had Chef Carlos and the Citizens crew boasting a 20+ person line at all times, with more and more festival-goers either dying to try them or begging for more. And when paired with a few homemade specialty lemonades, these tacos were quite a treat.

In attendance were 1500 excited taco and beer lovers, and a myriad of unique breweries serving up sample-sized sips of their favorite brews. There were also some fruit-infused waters and kombucha teas offered to cleanse our dazzled palates in between the tacos and beer. 12 chefs from restaurants across the Las Vegas valley attended the event, competing head-to-head in order to become the Hopped Taco champion in one of three categories: Hopped Taco (booze-infused), Taco Dulce, and Taco Loco (the most creative taco). Up against fierce competition, we had an awesome time chopping up fresh carne asada and specialty lemonades.  Some of our sister properties brought home the bacon, with Fix’s Chef Sterling winning best Hopped Taco and Herringbone’s Chef Geno taking home the Taco Dulce trophy. We were also blown away by Black Sheep’s Chef Jamie Tran for her salmon skin taco – it’s no wonder how she won Taco Loco.

Our big thanks go straight to Motley Brews for throwing together this delicious taco shindig, all while raising money for charity in the process. Lots of full tummies and full hearts all around!
